Essential Question: Why does taking a stand in small ways show integrity?
Goal: today you will read for 15 minutes to help you finish your book.
Reading: You should finish your book by Friday.
Agenda:
- Write the third body paragraph which contains a counterclaim
- Some might say it doesn't make sense for Atticus to make this stand. It is true that his decision to defend Tom Robinson could have[DESCRIBE SOMETHING BAD THAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO ATTICUS] But Atticus knows that he must defend Tom. Indeed, he tells Scout, “Because I could never ask you to mind me again. Scout, simply by the nature of the work, every lawyer gets at least one case in his lifetime that affects him personally. This one’s mine, I guess" (78). This shows that Atticus knew the case would be difficult, but his decision to take on the case reinforces the fact that he is[CHOOSE ONE OF THE WORDS FROM YOUR OTHER BODY PARAGRAPHS TO DESCRIBE ATTICUS]. Therefore it makes sense for Atticus to take that stand.
